How To Start A Community Welcome Plan

If someone likes what they see and has the probability to become a member, we turn that curiosity into a loyal following; and everything starts with welcoming the new member to your market research online community. A welcome plan is basically a follow up plan for your new members. Your focus is to give confidence to your members on their decision to be part of the community, provide them with relatable content, and make them feel welcomed among like-minded peers. Additionally, guide them on how they can fully utilize the community and get the most value out of it.

Create a powerful initial message.

This can be in the form of an email or page after the member has signed up to express your gratitude and provide them with additional resources to lead them on what to do next. This gives them guidance on how to proceed further, giving more opportunity to participate. Another option would be, a welcome call.

Make direct phone calls.

If you think it’s worth your time and effort to make direct phone calls, go for your first 100 members. You learn a lot from having a one-on-one conversation where you can take notes on their expectations. Think of it as doing research over the phone, and this will help you a lot because you get information immediately and will help you be smarter than your competition.

Send out monthly newsletters and ongoing emails.

Make monthly newsletters and ongoing emails a standard thing and send them out to your members through awesome content and high value information. Make them feel that they are important and valued in your community.

Introductions.

Create long lasting relationships and welcome new members through local meetups. If you are a local community, meet potential members in person and strike a conversation. Another highly effective way is webinar or video introductions. This can be pre-recorded or live. Through this, you will be able to tell them the benefits, how they’re valued, and how to move forward with the community through the resources available.

Create an effective welcome plan for your community and its members. Drive them to want to be part of the community, make them feel valued, and generate happy new members along the way.
